Biodiversity is essential for existence and health and an action plan will be needed.
I am afraid that:
1) we modern humans see biodiversity too much as our personal toy or as our preferred zoo, or we do not see it at all or rather as a nuisance.
2) We see ourselves too much in the center of (everything) and independant (superior) of biodiversity and pretty much everything else.
Amerindians and especially Amazon Amerindians see themselves rather as a part and a consequence of biodiversity.
Amerindians and especially Amazon Amerindians are our ancestors according to the ancestral markers (when one follows the science and not consensus).
If we modern humans had gone on to see the world as our ancestors always saw it, we would not have gotten ourselves into the “perfect storm” we got ourselves into.
If we would understand only part and practice only part (in a way adapted to us modern humans) of what they understood and practiced, we would get ourselves out of the “perfect storm” before we even would fully understand the full extent of it.
Possibly some predictions made by Dr. Mike Ryan of WHO (Executive Director, WHO Health Emergencies Programme, Public health and infectious disease specialist).
Seeing the complexity of our societies and economies, such understanding and practicing of course would need to be incorporated in a realistic action plan (life styles).
BIODIVERSITY.
1) Sufficient equilibrated biodiversity in the environment (world) prevents and reduces epidemics and consequentially pandemics.
2) Sufficient equilibrated biodiversity in the environment (world) prevents and reduces many threats we are facing and the "perfect storm" we got ourselves into.
This is very little understood and almost never mentioned.
Health organizations however do mention the term and concept one health.
These health organizations are forerunners in a way, because apart from humans they do include animals and plants in this "One Health" approach, but unfortunately not in the sense of equilibration or improving biodiversity that is so essential for Existence in general and avoiding Extinction.
The "One Health" that we wanted to see is more about preserving, maintaining and regeneration of all genomes (DNA).
It is not sufficient to see one health in function of trying to prevent antimicrobial resistance (AMR), and that is how health organizations tend to use the term one health
We modern humans seem to be convinced that we have a unique DNA, while in fact our DNA is a composition of the DNA of all or at least most living creature and makes use of it all the time.
Scientists call this that parts of the DNA of living creatures is very or extremely conservative.
Scientists do understand that the most conserved parts must also be the most important parts.
We do not seem to realize well what it means that we have an impressive amount of DNA in common, not just with our supposed Ancestors (common ancestor), but also with all animals, plants and living creatures (especially the most conserved and consequently most important parts of our DNA).
